Time filibuster fuse? ■ Is dryer vent properly installed and Failure to exercise so can upshot in death or electrical daze. clear of lint or obstructions? ■ All tests/checks should be fabricated with a VOM or DVM having a sensitivity of 20,000 ohms per volt DC or greater. ■ Bank check all connections before replacing components. Look for broken or loose wires, failed terminals, or wires not pressed into connectors far plenty. IMPORTANT Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Sensitive Electronics ■ The most common cause for command failure is corrosion on connectors. Therefore, disconnecting and reconnecting wires will be necessary throughout test procedures. Do not open parcel until information technology is time to install the electronic board. ESD bug are present everywhere. ESD may damage or weaken the electronic board. The new board may appear to work well later repair is finished, but failure may occur at a later appointment due to ESD stress. ■ ■ ■ ■ Use an anti-static wrist strap. Connect wrist strap to green ground connectedness point or unpainted metal in the appliance -ORTouch your finger repeatedly to a light-green ground connexion signal or unpainted metal in the appliance. Before removing the office from its parcel, touch the anti-static purse to a green ground connection indicate or unpainted metal in the appliance. ■ Connectors: Look at meridian of connector. Bank check for broken or loose wires. Check for wires not pressed into connector far enough to engage metal barbs. ■ Resistance checks of components must be fabricated with power cord unplugged from outlet, and with wiring harness or connectors asunder. DAMP DRY TEST Begin with a fully assembled, empty dryer with make clean lint screen. Be sure dryer is connected to a known good ability source. DIAGNOSTIC Test This test allows manufactory/service personnel to test and verify all inputs to the electronic control. The basic operation of this test is to notify the operator with an audible beep every time the status of an input to the command changes state. This test is performed with a fully assembled dryer, connected to a known good power source. Activating the Test Mode 1. Ready the post-obit configuration: ■ Door - must exist open ■ Signal switch - HIGH ■ Timer - TIMED DRY or AUTO MOISTURE SENSING PLUS option 2. Turn the Fabric Care Temperature switch from AIR FLUFF to ULTRA DELICATE 3 times within a five second period. A single beep, a suspension, and then a double beep will audio to indicate that the test manner is activated. NOTE: If any of these initial weather are not satisfied, the command will not enter the test mode. Test Fashion Functionality When the command is in examination mode, every input modify of state will outcome in an audible beep (with the exception of the Indicate switch). This includes: ■ Door switch ■ Moisture Sensor (brusque/open up Sensor will event in a beep) Annotation: A moistened finger or damp cloth may besides be used. ■ Fabric Care Temperature switch ■ Push button To First (PTS) switch (with the door switch airtight) ■ Timer (any cam input change will result in a beep) Note: Timer volition advance during test. 1. Set up the following configuration: ■ Door - must be closed Avert touching electronic parts or concluding contacts; handle electronic lath by edges only. ■ Timer - DAMP Dry out ■ Fabric Care Temperature switch COTTON / TOWELS HIGH When repackaging failed electronic board in anti-static bag, detect above instructions. ■ Signal switch - HIGH 2. Press the PTS (Button To Start) switch. Afterwards approximately 16 seconds, the Timer will commencement to advance to the OFF position. If this role does not occur, proceed to the Diagnostic Exam. FOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN'Southward USE But If whatsoever of the inputs do not result in a beep, keep to the corresponding component tests on page 4. Disconnect dryer from ability. two. Remove the comprehend plate from the back of the dryer. 3. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the neutral (N) terminal of the plug and the center contact on the terminal cake. See analogy below. N Power Cord Plug L1 Terminal Block COM Plug-to-terminal connections for electric dryer. ➔ If there is no continuity, supervene upon the power cord and test the dryer. ➔ If at that place is continuity, go to step 4. 4. In a similar way, check which last of the plug is connected to the left-nigh contact on the last block and brand a note of it. This volition exist L1 (black wire) in the wiring diagram. See illustration higher up. ➔ When this is found, go to step 5. ➔ If neither of the plug terminals have continuity with the left-about contact of the last block, supersede the ability cord and test the dryer. FOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN'S Use ONLY TECH Sheet - Exercise Not DISCARD PAGE 5 ➔ If resistance measurements are outside one to six ohms, perform the Thermal Fuse, Door Switch and Belt Switch Tests, and check harness continuity. If they test expert, supersede the motor. 5. Admission the electronic control without disconnecting any wiring to information technology. 6. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity betwixt the L1 terminal of the plug (institute in footstep iv) and BK (blackness wire) final on the timer. ➔ If there is continuity, go to step seven. ➔ If there is no continuity, check that wires to the concluding block are mechanically secure. If so, supplant or repair the main wire harness and exam the dryer. seven. Check for continuity betwixt the neutral (North) terminal of the plug and P2-ane (white wire) on the electronic control. ➔ If there is continuity, go to the Timer Test. ➔ If there is no continuity and the mechanical connections of the wire are secure, supersede or repair the main wire harness. 3. Measure resistance between the motor relay common (COM) terminal and ground. A high resistance (open up) should be measured. ➔ If it does not, perform the Thermal Fuse, Door Switch and Belt Switch Tests and check harness continuity. If they exam good, replace the motor. 2. Bank check door switch continuity. Neutral to P2-6 on the electronic control should read closed with the door closed, and open with the door open. 3. Otherwise, verify harness continuity. ➔ If no continuity, repair or replace the harness. ➔ If harness is good, replace the door switch. Orange i. Disconnect dryer from power. 2. Disconnect belt switch from harness and check chugalug switch continuity. Perform the diagnostic test on page 1 to determine that the timer motor advances (should run continuously). If the timer does not advance or fails the diagnostic test: ➔ With the belt switch in the proper run position, information technology should measure closed (motor test measurement tin be done to verify the belt switch). Run across illustration below. Belt Switch Pulley 1. Disconnect dryer from ability. 3. Bank check the timer motor impedance and timer switching. The impedance (BU to PT-ane) should be three K ohms (±2). Employ the timer encoding table below for switching electrical conductivity, and refer to timer illustration on folio two. Reference contact continuity to timer - BK. Belt switch in proper run position. ➔ With the belt loose, infinity (open up) should be measured. Meet illustration below. two. Mensurate resistance betwixt the motor relay mutual (COM) terminal and the P2-6 terminal on the electronic command. 1 to 6 ohms should be measured. If the dryer appears to operate correctly, proceed to step 3. 3. Remove exhaust vent and start the dryer. a. Turn Material Care Temperature switch to desired temperature to be tested, and select 20 minutes on the Timed Dry dial. Concur a glass bulb thermometer capable of reading from 90°F to 180°F in the center of the frazzle outlet. Measure exhaust temperatures with heater off and on. The correct exhaust temperatures are as follows: 1. Disconnect dryer from power. Bank check continuity of thermal fuse. 2. Once the thermal fuse has opened, it must be replaced. Check for failed thermistor, shorted heat element, or other causes of failure. Replace failed parts. See Thermal Components analogy at left.
